Avatar (2009)
I just came back from seeing it. It was so good! I only chose to watch it because of its high ratings. I didn't expect to have it add itself to my short list of favorite movies. I want to see it again - this time in 3D.
Did anyone else watch it?

Haven't seen it yet, but hope to over the holidays. Glad to hear that it's good! We saw 2012 today and I thought it was really good. The effects were amazing.

Wow - saw Avatar and loved it. It's a long movie, but it didn't seem that way when we were in it because it keeps you entertained the whole time.

Re: Avatar (2009)
I really like it. The story wasn't original or surprising, and the production was too obsessed with visuals when they should have revealed more about the supporting characters instead. But in the second half I got into the story emotionally, crying at the sad bits and all that, and overall had a very good impression of the movie. I think the fact that I'd liked Sam Worthington in Terminator Salvation helped. My husband didn't like Avatar, but the rest of his family all loved it. So I'd recommend seeing it for yourself and see how you like it.

Honestly, I didn't like the movie at all. The plot was terrible and the CGI wasn't as great as I thought it'd be. My neck was in tremendous pain afterwards the film.

I thought it was awesome, and in 3D it was *amazing*.
And I was actually really impressed with the CG; normally faces and expressions are so difficult to capture - they are always stiff, you know - but in this movie the CG faces were excellent, and really believable.

Re: Avatar (2009)
I saw it the first time in 2D because I was with someone who got dizzy watching 3D. Then I saw it in 3D with my sisters but missed the first 15-25 minutes of it because we ran late!
I want to see it again in 3D Imax before it goes out. It's one thing to watch it on DVD but when will I ever get a chance to watch it in its entirety in 3D Imax?
Well, that's my argument anyway.

Re: Avatar (2009)
I don't think you need an excuse to see a movie twice if you like it! Think how many people saw Star Wars, LOL. Personally, I found the 3D distracting, and wish I'd seen it in 2D. Although the scenery was beautiful, the production was too obsessed with showing me floating seeds, and the CGI didn't really seem better than other movies. I saw Jurassic Park on opening night in 1993, and that was miles ahead of anything out before it, so that really made your eyes pop (although I still would have liked a better story). I doubt anything will impress me as much until they come out with high quality holograms, LOL. But back to Avatar, there were times when the voice over kind of glossed over plot points, and I would have liked the movie to show me that story rather than just pretty pictures. But I don't expect a movie to be perfect, it was entertaining and I like it.

I saw Avatar in 3D! The Curators of the movie really have outdone themselves. The scenes are gorgeous and realistic looking. They have an entire book about how they created the fyling mountain scene! The've made more than 75 million dollars so far! I loved the movie, especially the graphics! I hope the others get the chance to enjoy the movie!

Re: Avatar (2009)
I would love to see that book, actually, on the making of Avatar. I also loved the scenes. I am particularly fond of scenes that involve flying so I loved the flight scenes. One of the reasons I liked 'Independence Day' was due to the flying scenes.
I liked the flying mountains. It kind of reminded me of one of Hayao Miyazaki's animation films (forgot the name) that had flying mountains.
