Who Bought Gopets??

Erik announced on Facebook and I talked to him personally. Gopets was sold to Zyanga. For those not on facebook, Zyanga makes many of the apps on there. As of right now there is no immediate plans for GoPets. I just wanted to pass on what I know. If I get any more information, I will be sure to pass it on.

Thanks Fritz. It's good to at least have a name instead of just knowing that "someone" bought GoPets. Now the question is, where can we contact them to start bugging begging annoying hounding encouraging, yeah, that's what I meant, encouraging them to open GoPets back up?

That's worth a try. A letter to their office in San Francisco might carry more weight than an email.

I might write a letter, but I'll have to give it some thought. Maybe give them an idea how much money I spent on GoPets over the years, and tell them I preferred the non-competitive pet game aspects and generosity of the community, rather than the gambling and competitive fishing and such that came into the game later.

Hmm well that is well umm odd lol.Since they have only flash apps or how they called.Alll 2D so this isn't promissing

ZOMG! Zynga is huge on Facebook! They run some of the most popular games including: Farmville, Yoville, Cafe World and Mafia Wars. I am sure they want to compete with Playfish that is doing very well with Pet Society.

I doubt we'll see the same game we know and are used to, I just hope it something similar and that they do a decent job with it.

i hope that they don't make it into a facebook app game. i'd really hate that :-/ app games always want you to spam your friends with invites and accomplishment posts and all kinds of... spam.

I agree. I don't like the fact that the Facebook apps encourage such spam and such.

I was surprised to find out that I actually heard of that company! Although, I would not have known of it had I not returned to Facebook to play games with former GoPets members. But as daeninn pointed out, it does not sound very encouraging that Zynga bought GP. I hope things work out though.

i agree. does not sound promising at all. who knows if they will just take some elements of gopets and stuff it into an exitsing game. i shudder at the thought. i hope they will do the right thing with it.

Since Erik said they sold the idea we will probabaly see a GoPets type version of Pet Society which is quite lame.Especially since i doubt we could keep out pets and such.Not to mention the key elements that made GoPets so cool like lands,3D decorating and pets,custom items and all those cure animations.Quite disaappointing.I was really hoping he sold it to a gaming company that would fix it and reopen it soon T_T

Unfortunately, sometimes a company will buy an idea just to keep a competitor from buying it and from using it, but that doesn't mean they intend to do anything with it at all.

Let's face it, GoPets is quite unique. I hope Zynga will do something with it because it could seriously blow Pet Society out of the water

Even if they will make an app out of it it still won't be the same.I really doubt they can make it so you can have 4 pets or 3D.So it's just gonna be a 2nd rate Pet Society.

I like PS and that you have a home and decorate it but let's face it i doubt Zyngea can make it better.

Aww Dae..no hope? I have some hope..I guess I am a bit excited about it. I would rather have some form of Gopets than nothing at all. If I can recreate my babies the way they look now, I will be happy. I think the hard part is waiting for some word....let's just hope they don't butcher the game to pieces where it looks like a regurgitated version of PS meets GP.

I am crossing my fingers and toes until then.

I just wnat the game back as it is better and improoved.Not a 2D flash version that won't let me do most of the things i have been doing so far on the game.But then again they only bought the idea and like Asynjur said they could have done that to stop say Playfish to buy it.

It's really annoying that they bought it without a plan

I would like to hope that they would try and restore GP in some sort of semblance to what we know and love but after all the hopes we had being dashed to pieces the first time, I think I'll stay pessimistic for a while until we know for certain.

It won't stop me writing to them though!
